Confidence in the Lord’s Deliverance

“They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts,” Psalm 125:1, 4.

It is good for everyone to learn right from wrong while growing up, to hopefully instill within us good morals. Physically, there is a division between children and adults. Children need boundaries and discipline to learn what is good. As they grow, they will learn of the consequences and of the law of reaping and sowing. Teach them right and you will instill in them goodness and kindness toward others. They will also mature and become independent from their parents.

Spiritually, you are God’s child from the time you are saved all the way into eternity. Even though you grow and mature in Him, relying on the Spirit to guide you, you should never be independent of Him. To be independent of God as His child is to be disobedient and rebellious.

This psalm is an encouragement to those who trust in the Lord, to remain dependent on Him. The children of Israel were told time and time again to fear, love and obey the Lord. God promised to protect and provide for them if they obeyed. In Deuteronomy 11:26-28, God said He set before them a blessing and a curse, a blessing if they obeyed or a curse if they did not. The same admonition is for His churches today. First Peter 3:12 says, “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
You have a choice every day to follow the Lord in obedience or to go your own way.
