Jesus Makes a Prediction

“And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again,” Mark 8:31.

I have heard an expression, and it is shared here not to sound trite,
but to illustrate a very valid point. I have heard it said that on the cross of Calvary, Jesus wrote the check for our salvation and when He was resurrected, the check cleared. As stated, this is not to minimize the resurrection in any way. After all, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most significant event in human history.

There is no room here to even touch the surface of the importance of the resurrection because we are limited in the words on this page. We can sum up a lot of it in a very easy way. The resurrection provides clear and present proof that everything else Jesus claimed was true. The fact that Jesus brought Himself back to life from death proved that He was God in the flesh. After all, only God could violate the laws of science in such a way. That is what a miracle was, a supernatural contravention of the laws of nature. Why is that so important? Only God has the authority to forgive sin, even those who hated Jesus knew that.

How much sin does Jesus have the power to forgive? All of it. All the sins of all people past, present and future. What does that mean for you? Jesus has brought forgiveness for everything you have done, the things you are doing now, and the things you will do in the future. His return to life gives you life.

JUST A THOUGHT: If Jesus had stayed dead we would stay that way ourselves. He was resurrected and so we can be also.
