Encouragement

As our children grow, we provide for them in different ways. Their needs change: they become more independent. When they are young, we literally must feed them. Babies cannot even put food in their own mouths. As they grow older, we still provide for them. It may be no more than good counsel and rescue in times of trouble, but they remain our children, and we do for them if we can. We do this because we love them for our entire lives. The way God deals with His children changes also. He also loves us completely and forever.

For forty years, God had dealt with the Israelites as children. He gave them great details on how to live daily. He literally provided them with food straight from Heaven to eat daily. Even their drinking water was provided by God in supernatural ways. The people had entered the Promised Land, and now their provision would come from there. Now, the people would have to do more to provide for themselves. They had to take the land from the inhabitants, and they would have to learn how to provide for themselves in many ways.

God had supplied their needs in every way for forty years. Nothing was really changing here; God was not simply going to leave them hanging. He would still ensure that those who followed Him had their needs met. It remains the same for us. If we obey and do God’s will, He will ensure our needs are met also.

JUST A THOUGHT: When we do God’s will, He will make sure our daily needs are met.
