Daily Devotional for Sunday, August 18

Thanks for God’s Creative Works

“They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice. Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it,” Psalm 65:8, 9.

A lot of people like to get up before the sun rises and watch the sun as it breaks over the horizon. Conversely, there are a lot of people that like to watch the sun as it goes down. It is always amazing how fast the sun comes up fully once the first light breaks through and also how fast it goes down once the first part of sun disappears over the horizon. It can seem like a magical moment at these times of day, and they are times of rejoicing (verse 8).

When you look at God’s creation, you see so many different ways that God shows His power and majesty. It is no wonder that His creation is so beautiful and admired by so many. When you think about how He waters the earth and grows different foods to provide for all of life, it is simply amazing (verse 9). In all of the plants, animals, sunsets and sunrises, He not only shows His creativity, but His creation also shows and declares Him, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20). Unfortunately, there are many that enjoy His creation so much that they worship the creation rather than the One who created and provided for His creation (Romans 1:25).

JUST A THOUGHT
It is easy to forget how the Lord takes care of all of His creation. How can you be creative in worshiping Him for His provision?
