The Details of the Contributions

“And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be with thee for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with thee for all manner of workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment,” 1 Chronicles 28:21.

As David neared the end of his life, he charged Solomon to build the Temple to the Lord that God had promised. David had collected many of the needed materials, and he had prepared the people to help. “Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the Lord an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto” (1 Chronicles 22:14). This house of the Lord God would be a structure unlike anything the world had ever seen.

David had taken care of a lot of the details. Not only had he provided many of the materials and manpower, he also encouraged Solomon. “And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord” (1 Chronicles 28:20). David knew that God would take care of Solomon and bless the construction efforts. After all, this was God’s house.

Maybe you have heard the statement, “God does not call the equipped, he equips the called.” Is God calling you to undertake a massive effort? Chances are, He is not having you build a temple. But whatever it is, you will be unsuccessful if you do not trust that He can help you accomplish His will.

JUST A THOUGHT
The difference between a complacent Christian and a willing worker is often just faith.
