Persecution Assured

“In most of our circumstances, there is no private space for us to conduct Bible studies and worship assemblies. They’re open-air and usually where a lot of people are passing in their daily routines. On the one hand, that is a good situation as it affords the opportunity to preach to passersby, some of whom will stop and listen before moving on their ways. In some instances, however, it genders a good deal of contempt among the neighbors, some shouting in an effort to interrupt our proceedings and others taking to more severe tactics, even hurling stones and bottles or most anything else that is lying around. I cannot forget one incident when the sound of our choir was the cause for a barrage of stones. I still bear a scar on my scalp from one of the projectiles.”—Memoirs of a Missionary, Glen Knight

One would think that good news will be welcomed by nearly everyone. And even those who don’t care to hear it will just keep quiet and disregard. Yes, one would think. That is sometimes not the case. In fact, as time moves forward toward the coming of our Lord, the critical danger in which Christians find themselves, points out the immense hatred Satan has for the gospel. Luke 21 makes good commentary here. We have seen in recent times how standing up for Christian values is mocked and scorned and in certain cases, outlawed even in America. The present political agendas, guided by ungodly people are being leveraged to assail faith and religious conscience. This should be no surprise, and neither should it cower God’s people into silence.

An Amazing Truth! The fact of persecution from the world is evidence of its moral waste and a proof of true faith among God’s people!
