Paul’s Testimony of Salvation

Most of us have probably heard the joke about the personal testimony that becomes an autobiography. Most of us have heard the seemingly endless recitation of the “Look how bad I was!” testimony. Unfortunately, some folks seem to revel in the previous badness of their lives, but that is another story. Some have a testimony that is much simpler; a child saved at the age of six cannot really have much in the way of a questionable past. We are all different, but in the end each salvation is important and so is each testimony. Ultimately, we have all been saved from a devil’s Hell!

Most of us never had a road to Damascus moment; however. Paul was a truly bad man. More than simply not believing in Christianity, Paul aggressively sought to destroy the growing faith. Paul was diligent and quite good at what he did. Paul was dedicated; he was just dedicated to the wrong things. Paul went from seeking to stamp out believers anywhere he could to attempting to plant believers anywhere he could. Few people in history illustrate the changing power of Jesus Christ better than Paul.

Paul was giving everything he had in his testimony to King Agrippa in this story; he knew the King was lost, and Paul gave it his all. Sadly, Agrippa was only “almost persuaded.” Almost saved is, nonetheless, quite lost.

Friends, nothing proves the saving and changing power of Jesus Christ as much as a life that is clearly changed. Our testimony matters. Most of us are not great theologians; however, any of us can tell what happened to us. We all can tell, but not all of us will tell. Which are you?

Just a Thought. No matter our past, God can save us; no matter our past, we need to be saved.
