The Source of Help
“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth,” Psalm 121:1, 2.
There once lived a dear woman with an agonizing physical ailment that impacted her life for many years. She had a blood issue and sought help from a number of medical sources to no avail. She suffered physically, emotionally and financially for twelve years until the day Jesus passed by. With the multitude surrounding Him, she made her way through and reached out to touch His garment. “For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole” (Mark 5:28). She had faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was completely healed of the disease that had plagued her for so long.
The Psalmist clearly states that our source of help is the Lord. He is Almighty God; the creator of heaven and earth. This is the same mighty God that delivered the Israelites from Pharaoh with the plagues of Egypt and parted the Red Sea. He is the same God that delivered Daniel from the lions and the three Hebrew children from the fiery furnace. And He knows and understands your struggles better than you do. He sees the beginning from the end and everything in between and He cares deeply for you.
Often times we are like the woman with the blood issue, seeking help from other sources to no avail. Look to the true source of help, the Lord Jesus Christ. “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man” (Psalm 118:8). Learn to wait on Him and His timing. It is often difficult to wait on the Lord, but it is a refining process. It is during that process that we learn patience and will draw closer to our Lord. Have faith; He is doing a work in you while you wait.
REFLECTION: “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing” (James 1:4)
