The Delight in the Lord
“Commit thy way unto the Lord; Trust also in him;
and he shall bring it to pass,” Psalm 37:5.
The order is trust, delight, then commit. Trust is first because in the life of man he must trust in Jesus or there is no hope for tomorrow. We must love and trust in Him now. Then and only then can we help someone else. There is hope for tomorrow. After I trust in Jesus, I can do the best I can for myself and help others. The spiritual gift of hope should be the driver of your life, then it is possible to hold the interest of another above your own. The way the Scripture puts it, when you have pity on the poor, you lend to God, and He is good to repay (Proverbs 19:17). Paul encouraged the believer to pursue the opportunity to do good to all men and especially the brethren (Galatians 6:10). You can believe that God will take care of you.
Delight is a whole other matter. Delight is a joyful partnership with God. It is when you come to fellowship with God in the great work that you are a front-line agent, and you like the work. Opportunity to influence? Check. Opportunity to serve? Sign me up. Delight is the wonder and amazement of watching the Master work in you, through you, around you and beyond you (Ephesians 3:20).
This kind of partnership with God requires commitment. Each day, you plan, with a commitment, to align your plans to the steps God has ordained for you (Proverbs 16:9). A wise man once said you are only committed to God when you commit your schedule and your task list to him. God will do with you more than you could ever do on your own.
THOUGHT: God help me to trust you, delight in you and commit to your path today.
