The Glory Departs
“Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims. And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD'S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above,” (Ezekiel 10:18-19).
What if your father decided to move out of your house when you were a child and leave you and your family? Your house would never be the same, it would never feel the same, and maybe you would only remember it the way it used to be when your father was in the house. Unfortunately, many people have had that exact experience. God chose to remove His glory from the Temple because of all of Israel’s sin and the abominations which were prevalent in the Lord’s house (Ezekiel 8:1-18). When the Father chose to take His glory from the Temple, His house was never the same again and his children suffered a sense of loss because of it.
As a child of God, He has given us his Spirit and we do not have to go to any building to see the glory of God. The good news is that Jesus has told us that He will be with us when we gather for him (Matthew 18:20). You have been created for the glory of God (Isaiah 43:7) and we have Him in our hearts, “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ,” (2 Corinthians 4:6). Because of this, we can experience his glory in our lives every day.
JUST A THOUGHT: The only God that some may ever see may be the Glory of God they see through your life.
