The Leadership of the Holy Spirit

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come,” John 16:13.

Life can seem confusing and even overwhelming at times. I think many of us would like to have our own personal guide in life to always point us the best way. How many of us have asked another person: “What should I do? What is the best way for me to handle this?” That sounds nice on the surface. The only problem is that human input is always flawed.
Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, He promised the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, would come in His place to guide us. He did, and He does. The Holy Spirit brings us to the place of salvation then seals us in that forever. Even more, the Holy Spirit indwells us and lives in us at the moment we are saved!
He is always in you. At salvation, you got all of Him because this is no incremental process. There is nothing you must do to have the power of the Holy Spirit at your fingertips, despite what some teach. Listen to Him and obey Him, and He will be your personal guide in all of life’s difficult times. If you do not listen and obey, then His guidance will likely be missing in your life. The Holy Spirit is still there and it is you who have wandered away, not Him.
If you know you are saved and are wondering where the Holy Spirit is, the real question you should be asking is what you are doing to hinder His work in your life, rather than where He is.

JUST A THOUGHT: If you are saved and not hearing the leading of the Holy Spirit, it is because you are quenching or grieving Him or just not listening.
