Be Ye Separate

If we asked everybody who knew us to name the top five things they think of when they think of us, what would be on the list? Would our faith be on the list? Is it possible that people who know us might not even know of our belief in God? If that is true, then shame on us!

The fact is our faith in the one true God should be the most notable thing about us. One reason is that we ought to be telling people about our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Another, even more important reason is that we ought to be instantly recognizable as different from everybody else around us. We should be so different that we are instantly regarded as different than everybody else. We are to be a peculiar people. That does not mean odd, by the way! We should be so full of the love and goodness of Jesus Christ that people want to know what is going on.

We all know the world is full of evil and evil doing. We probably even spend a lot of time talking about how the world has gone to pot in recent years. While the fact that we see it is a positive step, we need to look at how we are. Do we just point fingers and talk about it, or are we different from it? We are commanded to come out from among the evil people and separate ourselves from them. That does not mean to circle the wagons and no longer be part of society. We can never share Jesus unless we are in society. We must be part of and separate at the same time. We must be different!

JUST A THOUGHT: If we tell people how Jesus changed us, but act just like everybody else, then we call Jesus a liar.
