Rahab—Saved by Faith

God can save anybody, anytime, anywhere! You do not believe it? Just consider Rahab. Rahab was a prostitute in the city of Jericho who saw the power of God at work for the army of Israel. Rahab believed God and proved it by placing her life in danger to keep the spies safe in her home. As a response to her faith, the spies told her she would be saved when Israel conquered the city. They instructed her to place a scarlet cord on her window and this would be the sign that she was to be saved from the destruction. God saved a prostitute.

We have all likely encountered someone who said, “I am too bad of a sinner for Jesus to save me.” It seems to be a general revelation to all humanity that we are sinners, and we are unworthy of salvation. Yet, God would save Rahab from certain destruction as a sign of hope to all people. God can save anybody, anytime, anywhere.

For those Christians who were raised in a Christian home, we can tend to develop a sense of entitlement toward salvation. If we were saved at a young age and have followed Christ while avoiding immorality and worldliness, it is possible for us to think we are somehow worthy of salvation. God saved the child of Christian parents.

No matter how good you are nor how bad you are, none of us are deserving of the grace of God. None of us deserve salvation. Not the child saved at a young age. Not the prostitute nor the murder. Yet, God in His great mercy has extended His love to any who would respond in faith.

JUST A THOUGHT: The prostitute is no further from salvation than the unconverted church member. Faith in Christ is the same distance for any who would repent of his sin and follow Him.
