Thy Faith Hath Made Thee Whole

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness;
but unto us which are saved it is the power of God,” 1 Corinthians 1:18.

I have heard in recent years that a preacher had taken a unique method to share the gospel in his city. Apparently, he had decided to wear a sign over himself that read, “I’m a fool for Christ” on the front. On the back, he painted, “Whose fool are you?” This is a profound question that reveals the heart condition of the reader.

The message of the cross is foolish to a lost and condemned world. To them, the fact that we are sinners and must face the punishment of our sin is crazy. Even crazier to them is the thought that God came to man in the form of a baby, and that baby then became our Savior who died on the cross for our sins. The unregenerate sinner cannot fathom the gospel as truth, let alone a necessary reality for them.

But, to those of us who are born again, we rejoice in the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. For by it we have been redeemed from our sinful state. Therefore, we glory in the cross of Christ and find joy in being taken a fool for His sake and for the sake of the gospel. Therefore, we joyfully live by the power of the cross and boldly proclaim the saving power of the cross.

The same power that saves us from sin empowers us to witness of the saving grace of God offered to all mankind. We are witnesses of the gospel because we have experienced the power thereof and enjoy its rich rewards given to us by Christ.

FINAL THOUGHT: Today, let us exercise joy in Christ by proclaiming the saving power of the cross to our friends and neighbors.
