Fear Not

Only a clueless person could look around our world today and not realize that chaos rules. Things that were unthinkable some years back are now accepted and even celebrated. It is not enough to simply reject the ways of God. Today, many feel compelled to actively oppose them or even come against the people of God. This is not new. Those who are God’s people and living God’s way have always been troubled by the world around them. We see that in our passage God promises His chosen that they will be preserved from the coming judgment.

What may seem odd here to us is that it seems Israel was subject to the travails of many of the judgments to which God subjected other nations. After all, they were eventually carried away captive. They were judged for their own disobedience. God used the very nations He was judging to bring judgment on His own disobedient people! That seems very complex, does it not?

Yet, God promised the protection and preservation of His chosen people. He promised that someday He would gather them from all corners of the world and restore them as a people and a nation. History shows us that He has done just that. He gave them a nation again after the captivity. Later, when they were dispersed yet again, He restored the current nation of Israel. God always preserves His remnant.

We need not live in fear of the world around us, either. The God who saved us will also preserve and protect us. This place is not our home, and one day we will all be gathered in God’s Heaven to live in eternal glory with Him. Until then, we just need to live His plan, in His way.

JUST A THOUGHT : “Fear not,” is repeated over three hundred fifty times in God’s Word, and is probably the most repeated command we have been given. Maybe we ought to listen.
