Aaron Anointed

Aaron and his sons’ consecration to the priesthood was a very complicated ceremony involving washings and blood sacrifices. Then, what they hear with the ears, what they do with their hands and where they go with their feet was consecrated to the Lord. Basically, their daily life was to be a sermon reflecting Jesus. They started their day wearing clean white linen. By the end of the day, they were covered in blood and carnage from the many sin-offerings. At the age of thirteen, Jewish fathers took their sons to the Temple and let the sons watch the priests slaughter the sacrifices. All the gore and groveling in blood was meant to help young boys see what God thinks about sin. After this awesome ceremony, the boy was placed under the full weight of the Law and extended both the privileges and responsibility of an adult.

Thought: Christian parents spend a lot of time unteaching what their children learn at school, in the world and in their own living rooms. God told Jewish fathers and mothers to talk about God and His blessings so much that it was considered normal.
