The Sons of God

Jesus said several times that salvation was to the Jew first. “He came unto his own, and his own received him not” (John 1:11). He made every effort to have His people hear the gospel and believe on Him. Several times He had encounters with Gentiles who exhibited more faith than His own people. Jesus used for examples, the Roman centurion, the good Samaritan and the woman at the well. Jesus fully intended to carry the gospel to the Gentiles. However, He offered it first to His own people.

Paul’s heart was set to witness to his people, the Jews. “And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles” (Acts 18:6).

Thought: “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2).
