David’s Victory in God
“My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me . . . But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped,” Psalm 63:8, 11.
I decided to build my own house because I could not afford to buy what I wanted and needed for my family. After starting the project, I began to wonder if I had made a big mistake as it began to overwhelm me with all of the little and big things that needed to be done. As I prayed to the Lord for wisdom and grace to be able to accomplish this undertaking, I began to see little victories as I tackled and finished each section of building this house. This seemingly impossible project became possible because God helped me and gave me the victory.
David’s life was filled with many times that the enemy seemed insurmountable or that they seemed to be winning the victory. The only One that he could turn to was the Lord who had given him victories throughout his life whether it was a physical, emotional or a spiritual victory. When he was able to overcome the enemy or show that the Lord was faithful in helping and delivering him from those that would defy God, they would not be able to say anything against the Lord (Psalm 63:9- 11). You cannot measure what God will do in your life by what you are going through today, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18). God is always working things for us: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
JUST A THOUGHT
Sometimes the little victory you can win for today is simply knowing and believing that God is in control and working for your good.
