Trusting God

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed,” James 1:5, 6.

In May of 2012, a thirty-two carat Burmese ruby and diamond ring was sold at an auction. The pre-auction estimate for the sale was $3–$5 million, but the final sale price ended up at $6.7 million. It is believed to be the most expensive ruby ever sold. As valuable as rubies are, the Bible tells us that wisdom is far better and more valuable. No earthly treasure can compare to wisdom because nothing else offers the same protection, benefits and blessings that wisdom does. “For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it” (Proverbs 8:11).

Our key verses for today tell us that God gives wisdom generously to any who ask. God, who is all-knowing, offers to give to us that which He says is more valuable than rubies. As we attempt to navigate the winding roads of life, we need the wisdom that only God can give. This wisdom may seem unattainable for mankind. Yet, God says He offers it to us generously when we ask in faith.

Anything in this life that we could desire cannot be compared to the riches of God’s wisdom. No Christian should lack in godly wisdom, for God offers it to us freely. Godly wisdom may be the greatest help available to the Christian, yet, it could be what we lack most because we do not ask.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Diligently seek God for wisdom, and He will give generously.
