The Word of God Grew

“But the word of God grew and multiplied,” Acts 12:24.

“My old Bible was loose-leaf. It wasn’t designed that way but became such through use in rough terrain and wet weather over a number of years. The binding had broken down and pages were free to blow in the wind when I’d open it to read while preaching. Once, I was asked if there were Bibles to give the people, in as much as we were studying John 3:16- 18, but I had none to give. I began to understand the value of my loose-leaf Bible when two pages went missing overnight. The next day, the two were returned and carefully situated back in numerical sequence. The people had taken them and by dictation as one woman read, they copied their own Scriptures in long hand, and by that was the Word of God multiplied among them!”—Memoirs of a Missionary, Glen Knight

Consider what it is for plants to grow and multiply. That speaks of sowing or planting first, then of maturing and finally of multiplying. Surely it is impossible for a seed not placed in the proper element for sprouting to ever grow. I was amazed not long ago when archaeologists discovered corn in clay pots that had apparently been placed there centuries before by Native Americans. It could not grow in the pot. But once taken from that ancient depository and planted in the soil, it sprouted and grew and produced more of its particular type. Studies made of it proved its kinship to modern, hybrid corn!

God’s Word has the innate ability to sprout in the hearts of people when it is shared. The process follows with maturing and then multiplying as it is given opportunity.

AN AMAZING TRUTH
The Word of God never lacks in its ability to grow and multiply.
The responsibility is ours to plant it!
