The Judge
“Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people,” Psalm 50:3, 4.
When we break the law and are caught, we have to face whatever judgement or sentence is imposed on us. Often, we are simply cited and do not have to go before a judge if we choose to pay the fine. If we do find ourselves before a judge, it can be very intimidating, and there is a certain amount of decorum and respect that must be maintained because of the judge’s position and respect for the law that is demanded. Many judges throughout time have been good representatives of law and order, and many have misused their position as a judge. When the Lord, the true judge comes, ultimate respect for Him and His authority will be warranted.
When the Lord comes to judge, He will judge like no other, “for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth” (Psalm 96:13). If we know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we will stand before Him at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10). If a person dies without knowing Jesus, then he will stand at the Great White Throne of God and be judged (Revelation 20:12). Jesus warns us, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48).
REFLECTION
“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” (1 Peter 4:17). Get ready to face the Judge and His judgment.
