Hope of Creation

You cannot fully comprehend what the universe was like in Genesis chapters 1 and 2 at the beginning of creation. It was perfect, something you cannot understand. After sin entered the world, everything became imperfect, messed up, and just does not work right. Therefore, you either have too much rain and a flood or not enough rain and a drought. Therefore, you have hurricanes, tornadoes and wildfires. You live in a messed-up world. And it groans and travails in pain awaiting the day when the creation itself will be “delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God” (Romans 8:21).

This speaks of the day when all of God’s children will be resurrected, called in this passage “the redemption of our body” (verse 23). Arguments arise over the timing of this event. But seemingly, the full return to a perfect creation does not occur until after the millennial kingdom with the creation of a new Heaven and new earth (Revelation 21; 22).

I do not understand all of this, but here’s one thing I do know. One day, I will be like Christ, perfect, and living in a perfect universe. I have no idea how glorious that will be, but I eagerly wait for it and know for sure it will happen one day. “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).

Thought: One day we will be perfect living in a perfect world.
