The Anointed

“I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee,” Psalm 2:7.

He had been taught of the Promised One which was to come and he believed. Not only did he have faith in the long-awaited Messiah, but the Spirit had revealed something quite amazing. He would personally see the Lord’s Anointed with his own eyes before he died. Simeon was an old man when the day finally came that he entered the Temple and looked upon the Christ child, and great joy filled his soul. He held Him up in his arms saying, “Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: for mine eyes have seen thy salvation” (Luke 2:29, 30).

This is only one of countless ways God the Father has declared Jesus, His only begotten Son, as the Christ and Savior of the world. Literally hundreds of prophecies foretold in the Old Testament have been perfectly fulfilled in the life of Jesus down to the most minute detail. His glory was declared from the angels announcing His birth, with the glorious heavenly host, to His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. He is King of kings and Lord of lords and He will return with great power and glory! God has exalted Christ above all, and the day is coming when every knee will bow before Him, and all will confess that Jesus is Lord (Philippians 2:9-11).

Consider such an all-powerful, all-knowing Lord and Savior. Is there anything too difficult for Him? He is the Creator of Heaven and earth! No matter in what situation we find ourselves, we do not need to fear. Our God is a great and mighty God, and He will give us the strength we need to bear through and overcome whatever we may face.

REFLECTION
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27).
