Praise the Lord
“O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord,” Psalm 117:1, 2.
It was not too long ago that America was considered a Christian nation. The very principles this country were established upon are found in the Bible. We are one nation under God. That was until a few decades ago when America was mostly monotheist in her thinking. Today there are many different beliefs of who God is. Some question if He exists at all. Man’s desire has been to turn to other gods, making America more polytheistic.
In Psalm 117, the psalmist called upon all nations to praise the Lord. You see, whether you believe in one God or many, it is the Lord Jehovah who is the only true God. Whether you believe that or not, one day all men of all nations will praise Him.
Though the Jews were divided among other countries because of their disobedience, the call is for all people. The mercy God showed to them, He will show to the world. He did this through sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross.
Christ came for His people, the Jews. However, the Jews rejected Him, and salvation was spread to every man, bringing both Jew and Gentile together. Now it is possible for all nations to praise the Lord. “That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel” (Ephesians 3:6).
The churches which are made up of different nationalities and personalities can now come together as one to praise the Lord because of His merciful kindness.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Be grateful you have other believers you can praise the Lord with.
Declare His goodness to each other.
