Lord of All Creation
“I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being,” Psalm 104:33.
Many of us look forward to retirement. We want to save enough money so that, someday, we no longer have to labor for a living. If we are blessed and industrious, we want to amass enough financial reserve to enjoy retirement; in other words, we want to be able to do the things we never had time to do when we were amassing the assets. I do not think there is a thing wrong with that, and if you get to do it, I say good for you. I actually love what I do, so my ideal retirement is being healthy enough to keep doing it for years. Perhaps I will do it less, but I hope to spend my later years doing what I do now.
But there is a thing we need to remember, and many need clarification on this issue. How many folks have you seen retire from their jobs, then suddenly they are not doing anything at church either? They are retired. In reality, we do not retire from God’s service; He gets our life from start to end.
This psalm is a list of reasons why we ought to give glory to God. The opening verses are a synopsis of creation; the last verses may deal with the end of times. Because of that, our entire existence belongs to Him, from start to finish. How much of your life do you give back to God? Do you take the gifts He gave to you and cling to them selfishly? Or do you offer it back to the One who gave it to you?
JUST A THOUGHT
We were bought with a price; that means we are God’s to do with as He wishes.
