Daily Devotional for Tuesday, April 2

The Chosen Church

“Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God,” 1 Thessalonians 1:4.

“I believe in a physician when I put my case into that physician’s hands and trust him to cure me. I believe in a lawyer when I leave my case in his hands and trust him to plead for me. I believe in a banker when I put money into his hands and allow him to keep it on my behalf.

“I believe in my Savior when I take Him to be my Savior, when I put my helpless case into His hands, and trust Him to do what I cannot do for myself—save me from my sin. Have you done so?”—W. T. Aitken.

What an inexpressible joy it is to be a child of God! Furthermore, being a saved, baptized member of the Lord’s church is a fulfilling and joyful calling. Knowing that we have been saved by God and placed in one of His churches to serve Him is enough fuel to serve Him joyfully for the rest of our lives.

As children of God and members of one of His churches, we have the expressed purpose of telling others of this great joy. From the moment we were saved, our purpose for living is the very mission of God. We must faithfully serve Him with our time and talents through one of His churches. We also must faithfully share the good news of the salvation we have been given to a lost and broken world which has no hope.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

There is no better way to say “thank you” to God for saving you than to serve Him joyfully for the rest of your days. There is no better way to fuel your joy than to see someone with whom you have shared the gospel come to salvation in Christ.
