Faith of Fathers

The Bible from start to finish is about one thing: the story of Jesus Christ, and God’s plan of salvation set before the creation of the world. There is not a single word or story in the Bible that does not refer to or point to the tapestry of the plan of salvation.

Several times in the New Testament you see that one of the Jewish sects of the day, the Sadducees, did not believe in the resurrection. They attempted to justify this by believing only in the first five books of the Old Testament, the Pentateuch. Their claim was that the Scriptures did not support the doctrine of the resurrection.

Abraham, the most respected of the patriarchs believed in the resurrection himself. When commanded to offer his beloved son Isaac as an offering to God, Abraham never hesitated. He acted in faith, believing in and understanding that God could, and would raise Isaac from the dead and return him to life.

Abraham’s faith pleased God, and it saved (by God’s grace) Abraham. Our faith pleases God, and it (by God’s grace,) saves us!

JUST A THOUGHT: Without the resurrection, Jesus is nothing more than another martyr; with it, He gives eternal life to all those who believe.
