God and the Godless

“Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth. The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies,” Psalm 58:2, 3.

Have you ever seen a baby who cries for no apparent reason? There are times babies will cry just to get attention, be picked up or to get something they want. Some might say they cry because they cannot yet speak, and while that may be true in certain situations, it is also true that even when there is nothing wrong with the child, he will still cry to get something. The reality is that children do not have to be taught to lie, they seem to know how to do that from the time of their birth (verse 3). It shows me that sin comes naturally to all of us since we are born with a sin nature.

Godlessness is everywhere in our society today, but it has always been prevalent in the earth because there have always been those who do not believe or follow the Lord. God has given all people an opportunity to repent, but unfortunately, not all will turn from their ungodliness and turn to the Lord. Sometimes you feel like they are getting away with their sin and wickedness, and you want God to destroy them or take them away, so we do not have to deal with them (verses 6-8). We are assured that He will take them away and deal with them (verse 9): “God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth; the Lord revengeth, and is furious; the Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies” (Nahum 1:2).

REFLECTION
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Do not let the godless influence you away from God. It is not worth it.
