The Invitation Was Presented

Recently, a friend was speaking of a fun event he had attended and wondered why I had not also attended. I simply replied, “I was not invited.” My friend assumed that I had been informed of the event and invited to attend. I made it clear that if I had been invited, I would have loved to attend.
Many Christians may live with similar assumptions regarding the salvation of their acquaintances. A person may live a good life before his friends so that they see his good works. He may even talk of church attendance and of faith in a passive manner. All the while, he could miss giving the critical invitation to Christ that his friends must hear before it is too late. It is possible his friends even know of God and believe in Him, yet he has yet to invite them to begin a relationship with Him.
Many statistics show that a large majority of Christians who were saved as adults heard the gospel at the invitation of a Christian friend. Peter shared an invitation to Christ after God had expressed His power through Peter in the healing of a lame man. Maybe your friend is a short distance from receiving Christ after watching Him work in your life. He simply needs to hear an invitation to believe, repent and follow Jesus.

REFLECTION: Do not let your friends miss Christ for your lack of invitation.
