One Is Bewitched by Turning from the Gospel
"Are ye so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? If itbe yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth heit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?" Galatians 3:3-5.
It has been wisely said that if you stand for nothing you will fall for anything. I am acquainted with a man who devoutly rejects the existence of God and considers the Bible to be a book of fables which should be ignored. He considers anyone who attends church to be a dimwit and disdains all biblical ideals. However, this same man reads his horoscope daily with religious fervor as he is sure that it controls his fortunes. He affirms that the universe is the product of an ancient cosmic accident and that the affairs of men are governed by aliens orbiting the earth in a mother ship. While firmly rejecting the idea of an afterlife, he is sure there is life on other planets.
Such are the contradictions of people who reject the truth of God. When the truth isrejected a vacuum is created into which heresy quickly settles. The words of Paul to the Galatians are fitting, ''Are ye so foolish?" (verse 3). Paul dealt with this reality in his letter to the Romans in which he addressed a generation, "who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever, Amen" (Romans 1:25).
Today, our culture has largely abandoned the truth for a world of delusion. In the words of the apostle, they are bewitched. Biblical truth isbeing questioned to the point that children are encouraged to question their gender, personhood of the preborn is denied, and climate concerns rank above the needs of the people.
PARTING THOUGHT
Allow the umbrella of God's truth to shelter you from the lies of our enemy, Satan.
