Peter’s Sermon

Some people have the gift of speaking in a way that is very appealing. Throughout history, people have used this gift of preaching for good and evil. When men share their opinions, evil usually follows because we are sinful and evil in our hearts. On the other hand, those led by the power of the Holy Spirit will never go wrong, because the Holy Spirit is God, and God is never wrong!
On this day, Peter was led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. This was not always the case. Peter often spoke as Peter, and often put his foot in his mouth. On this day, Peter preached a very powerful sermon, the Holy Spirit was poured out on the about one hundred twenty members of the church at Jerusalem and three thousand souls were saved!
When Jesus arose and defeated death, He gave the potential of life to every human, and He gave power through the Holy Spirit to His churches. Nothing has changed. Because of what He did, we can live. Because of what He did, His churches have power as well.
We have the same choice Peter had. Will we carry on in our own power? If so, we will put our feet in our mouths as well. When we speak by the power of the Holy Spirit, we will never go wrong. It is a choice; The Holy Spirit will not force the right words into our mouths. He will certainly provide them, but never force them. It is a choice. What will we choose?

JUST A THOUGHT: What flows from our hearts is often wrong and even evil. What flows from the mouth of the Holy Spirit is always pure and good.
