Paul Boasted in the Cross of Christ
"But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world;' Galatians 6:14.
Paul identified the true motive why the Judaizers wanted to see the Gentiles keep the Law, "For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh" (Galatians 6:13). Those false teachers who promoted circumcision for salvation and keeping the Law for church membership were really only after one thing: they wanted self-glory. They wanted to be able to boast of what they had convinced the Gentiles to do. Does this sound familiar to us? How many false teachers andreligions are motivated by self-glorification?
Youhave probably seen some of the well-known televangelists that call themselves pastors. These men and women are really just self-righteous so-called religious orators. They appear to be promoting themselves and their philosophies and their false gospels, "He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousnessis in him" (John 7:18). I wonder how many of these so-called religious leaders even have a relationship with Jesus Christ?
Jesus did not receive honor from men (John 5:41). He always sought to do the will of God His Father (John 8:29). I had a church member once that told our Sunday School class that she did not want the gospel preached at her funeral. Even though she knew she would not be there, she wanted the services to be all about her. It was one of the most selfish statements I have ever heard. I have never heard another Christian say anything like that.
JUST A THOUGHT
Everything we do should be for God's honor and glory.
If you are going to boast, boast about what Jesus did for you.
