God’s Provision

“He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters; he delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me,” 2 Samuel 22:17, 18.

It is heartbreaking to see the destruction of the family in today’s society. Broken homes outnumber whole ones, and the number of healthy homes is even fewer. I marvel at how blessed I am to have grown up in a healthy, safe, Christian, two-parent home. I never wondered where I would sleep or if I would have enough food to eat. I always had water, electricity, clothes that fit and money for field trips. There were probably times that my parents did worry about those things, but they always provided for us because we were their children.

How much greater is our Heavenly Father’s provision for us! In this section of David’s psalm, he praised God for providing a way out from his enemies and providing safety in time of need. He explained that he had shown he was God’s child by keeping His commandments and was praising Him for being a faithful Father.

God has provided us a way to spend eternity with Him. In our sins, we are separated from a holy God. When Jesus came to be the punishment and sacrifice for our sins, He made a way for us to be rescued from the enemy. When we repent of our sins and call upon the name of the Lord, He secures us forever. He is our provider, and He will never leave us nor forsake us. My parents may have provided for my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs, but there is only One who can provide eternal life.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Praise God for providing a way of escape from the eternal punishment of sin. Let your life be a walking psalm of praise for all He has given you.
