David’s Ministry to King Saul
“And David came to Saul, and stood before him: and he loved him greatly; and he became his armourbearer,” (1 Samuel 16:21).
In the United States we have something called The Presidential Prayer Team and anyone can join this team. It is a call to pray for our president no matter who they are, what party they represent, or if you agree with their policies or not. Praying for our president and our leaders is something that is ordained of God and something that will help all of us (1 Timothy 2:1, 2). Similarly, David was called to a ministry of service to King Saul even though Saul had been rejected of God and no longer represented what God wanted for His people Israel.
When we pray for and minister to others, especially those that oppose God and His word, it may never be appreciated by those we are ministering to, but it does make a difference. Even when people oppose us and our God, we are to show them love and pray for them, “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you,” (Matthew 5:44). David was not only used as an armourbearer, but he was also used to soothe King Saul’s evil spirit (1Samuel 16:23). The Apostle Paul showed us, that like him, we have a ministry to others to help people with their relationship with God, “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation,” (2 Corinthians 5:18, 19). Make a difference in someone’s life today by ministering to them.
JUST A THOUGHT: Who does God want you to minister to that needs help with their relationship with God?
