The Proverb of Saul

“And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them. And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets,” (1 Samuel 10:10-11).

Every good manager has had that first day when they took over the position and wondered how they would be received as the new manager. The employees themselves may even have some reservations as to whether this person would be an effective manager until they see them in action. Saul has been told that he would be captain over God’s people (1Samuel 10:1) but how would he or anyone else know if he could be elevated to such a level? Saul was given a sign that he would be able to do this because God would be with him (1 Samuel 10:7) and others saw it and put forth the proverb as to him being among the prophets.

You may never be a king, president, or any other such leader of such a high rank but the same God that was with Saul is with you also. Even Moses was told that God would certainly be with him (Exodus 3:12) and gave him the words to say when he needed them. The Bible is filled with many proverbs that tell us timeless truths but is your life a proverb that people talk about like Saul’s? Remember, when you doubt your own abilities “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee,” (Hebrews 13:5). Open yourself up to what God wants to use you for.

JUST A THOUGHT: You may not see yourself as being able to do much for the Lord but with God, all things are possible.
