God’s Righteous Redemption

“Have mercy upon me, O Lord; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death: that I may shew forth all thy praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in thy salvation,” Psalm 9:13, 14.

I was talking to my grandfather’s brother one day about Jesus because I wanted to know if he was saved or not. I knew that my great-grandmother, his mother, was a woman of faith but did not know if he believed or not. I asked him if he believed in Jesus, and if he had asked Him to save him. His reply was that he had asked God to save him many times like when he was about to get into a potential car accident. Of course, that was not the kind of saving I was asking him about but that is how he equated the saving of a person by the Lord. It made me wonder how many people confuse the saving of one’s physical life with the salvation of one’s soul.

Saving a person from trouble or physical harm is certainly mentioned in this psalm of David, but this psalm talks of all of God’s marvelous works, “I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works” (Psalm 9:1). The first and most marvelous work of all is when a person comes to know and believe in the Lord Jesus as Savior of his soul. Once you have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ and He has saved your soul, you are in a place for the Lord to help you through all the trouble that may come upon you. “And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee” (Psalm 9:10).

JUST A QUESTION
What has God done for you for which you can praise Him and tell others?
