Paul Strengthens the Disciples

“And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.” Acts 18:23

Sometimes when we see a person who has singular focus and drive towards getting work done, we say, “Wow, that guy is a machine!” Some folks just never seem to lose focus, and usually the rest of us are highly impressed by this person. It only takes one such person in a work group to raise the level of performance for the organization as a whole. Such performers become invaluable.
Paul was such a person. Paul was a busy, busy man. From the day of his salvation on the road to Damascus until his death in Rome, Paul lived for one thing, and that thing was to preach and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to as many people as he could. His efforts were ceaseless. In our passage, Paul seemed to have been in five different places in the space of five verses of Scripture. We do not know how much time passed here, but Paul was definitely on the move. Paul always allowed himself to be led by the Holy Spirit, always seemed to be focused on the task at hand, and always seemed to be looking ahead to what was next when the current task was done. Paul was a machine. Because of this nature the gospel was taken to much of the world, churches were planted, disciples were made, and thousands were saved.
You may not be called to give your life to missionary service, but you are called to understand that the focus of any Christian life is to spread the gospel to the lost. Do you think on that daily? Do you act on it daily? Do you think and act on it at all?

JUST A THOUGHT: The time the Lord allows us to linger is drawing to a close. There is no time to waste, and we need to be busy.
