The Lord’s Day and the Antichrist
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God,” 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 4.
Bible prophecies regarding the antichrist and all the events which will come to pass can cause a stir in the heart of a Christian. As we observe current events in the light of biblical prophecies, we can grow anxious about what we may live through. However, God never intended for His children to live in fear or dread, even considering end-time events. Bible prophecies are given to educate Christians and prepare us for what is to come. Paul wrote so that the Thessalonians and Christians today would not be deceived by the antichrist or his followers.
Satan is a sworn enemy of God and all those who follow Him. Therefore, he has grown more intense in his efforts to combat the work of God as time has waned. As Satan’s fervor grows, so should the fervor of Christians. We are well informed of what is to come and why these things will come to pass. Therefore, we ought to live lives of urgent obedience to the Great Commission to warn our generation of sin’s destruction. Christians living in fear of unfolding events will never rescue a lost world from the cost of sin.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
We are well informed of end-time events in Scripture. May this truth, coupled with our trust in God, lead us to live bold and faithful in the face of world events.
