Pray for God’s Message
“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you,” 2 Thessalonians 3:1.
Have you been on social media lately? More thoughts and prayers are sent up there than in the average church on Sunday morning. People ask for prayers, and immediately, the comments roll in: “Sending up thoughts and prayers!” How many people do you think stop and pray for the one requesting it? There may be brief thought, only as long as it takes to write a comment, but the odds are that no prayer truly happened. That is sad but likely true.
The Bible teaches us a lot about prayer. We are told to pray all of the time, we are told to pray with clean hearts, and we are even told how to pray. Some of the most moving passages of Scripture are descriptions of God’s people praying. We see in God’s Word that God answers prayers for His children. I want everyone to pray for me every chance they get. In fact, if you are reading this you can pray for me now?
If you ever feel as if you have no service to perform, then you have not read God’s Word with understanding. He tells us to pray, and that is what we should do. Paul understood this and instructed the believers in this church to pray for him and his fellow laborers in the faith. Do you need a place to begin your prayers? Praying for those who lead and teach you is a great place to start. God calls them to bear a great responsibility in teaching the rest of us and leading us on a godly path. They bear a great responsibility to share God’s message with us accurately. Will you pray for them today? Will you pray for me today?
JUST A THOUGHT
Prayer works and prayer matters. Who have you prayed for today?
