God’s Glory and Grace

“Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down,” Psalm 145:13, 14.

This is a psalm of praise to the Lord, not only for who He is, but also for His actions toward His people. The last part of this psalm gives assurance that you can trust in the Lord because He cares for you. God has given many promises that tell you this; yet, it is not without some responsibility on your part.

Salvation is not a free ticket to live the way you want. As a result of salvation however you can live a better way. When you live the Christian way, the Lord will care and provide for you. What is this better way? Several verses of this psalm give a good indication of what that may be.

Verse 14 tells us that He will raise up all those who are bowed down. The Lord will help the humble. He will give you what you need as you trust in Him. He gives generously to His children who walk uprightly. The Lord is close to them that call on Him. He will hear you as you cry out to Him and admit your dependence on Him. The Lord desires to give good things, and He will do so to all who fear Him. Do you fear the Lord? Do you show Him reverence? Do you tremble also before Him because He is mighty and awesome? The Lord will preserve, protect and guard those who love Him. Do you love the Lord?

The last point the psalmist makes is that he will speak the praise of the Lord. How often do you speak about who God is and all He has done and will do for you?

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
The more you praise Him and declare what He has done for you, the more you will know Him and love Him.
