The Lord Looks Out for the Psalmist
“He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand,” Psalm 121:3-5.
This beautiful psalm reassures us of the unwavering protection and guidance of our Heavenly Father. God will not allow our feet to slip, reassuring us that God is our sure foundation, providing stability and security in our journey. The assurance that He neither slumbers nor sleeps emphasizes His constant vigilance. Unlike earthly friends who may grow weary, God’s watchful eyes are always upon us.
The Lord is described as our keeper, a shade at our right hand. In the scorching heat of life’s challenges, God provides a sheltering shade which offers relief and protection. Whether in the brightness of joy or the darkness of adversity, God’s protection remains steadfast. We are assured that no circumstance is beyond His reach.
This psalm has been a reassuring comfort to me personally in times of trial. Consider this: the Lord will preserve our going out and coming in, not only for a season but forevermore. (See Psalm 121:8.) This timeless assurance reminds us that God’s care is not temporary; it extends throughout our entire journey, from the beginning to the end.
You can find comfort in the arms of our constant protector. Every step we take, God’s unwavering presence is our source of strength, protection and peace.
