Asaph’s Confidence

“But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob,” Psalm 75:9.

Psalm 75 is a song of deliverance, a song of the triumph that will come; therefore it is a psalm of faith. Ultimately, God is going to protect His name on earth. What a wonderful, glorious truth this is which is put before us in this psalm.

The people of Israel were often beset, robbed and invaded by all the surrounding people, and God repeatedly rescued them from those who troubled them. This psalm offers God praise for his history of doing that. Not only will God’s people praise Him, but even those who were the problem will praise Him. God is so great that, eventually, everyone will acknowledge Him. Paul told us the same thing, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10, 11).

Be a history student; when you feel beset by trouble or even people, study God’s history of delivering His people from adversity because He will also save you from the adversity that you face. When you feel overwhelmed by life or opposition, do not despair, do not give up on God and do not blame God, but praise Him. He deserves your praise because He has promised relief to His people, and God never breaks a promise.

JUST A THOUGHT
The time of Jesus’ return to set all things in order is known only by the Heavenly Father, but take hope in the fact that Jesus will come again.
