Faith of Moses

Despite the idea that you are financially afflicted, the truth of the matter is that you live in a time of unprecedented prosperity in many ways. Today, most people have more things at their fingertips than at any time in history. In other words, what you consider to be deprivation only means you do not have the same toys as the guy next door. Hand in hand with this is the simple fact that the temptations of the world are stronger today than at any time in history.

Moses certainly had some temporal blessings available to him. As a prince of the Egyptian empire, he had all the perks that would have come along with that position; not only that, but he may very well have ended up as the Pharaoh himself someday and ruled the entire empire! Yet, you know from the biblical account that Moses turned his back on all of that and chose to serve the one true God. In fact, Moses made this choice before God even called him from the burning bush. He did this when he killed the Egyptian master who was abusing a Hebrew slave (Exodus 2:11). Moses’ execution of God’s plan was certainly flawed, but his desire was at least in the right place.

Moses acted because he believed the promises of God he had learned from his mother. You have the historical fact of the deliverance of the promise to guide you today.

JUST A THOUGHT: It is ironic that, when God blesses you financially, the first thing you may do is turn your back on the very One who gave it to you.
