New and Living Way

“That is the way it has always been done.” Maybe it is the times and order of Sunday services, scheduling yearly events like Vacation Bible School or revival, or the kind of songs that you sing. I am not against traditions, if those traditions are Bible based. But traditions just because it has always been done that way are not always good. When Jesus came, He brought changes to the way the Jews had always done it.

What was the old way? It was the way described throughout Hebrews—burnt-offerings, animal sacrifices, washings—which God did away with that He might establish the new. God established the New Covenant in His Son (Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 10:15-17). It is the way of the Spirit, “that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter” (Romans 7:6); “for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life” (2 Corinthians 3:6). It is God through the Holy Spirit putting His laws in your heart and mind that you might serve Him by the leadership of the Holy Spirit who indwells all believers.

You should be glad that Jesus Christ brought change, a new and living way. I would hate to know that you still had to serve under the old way, the way of the Law that could only judge and show you that you are a sinner. The new way of Jesus Christ offers forgiveness of sins, and God will remember your sins no more!

Thought: I like the new way of Jesus Christ.
