He Is Able To Keep

I am forever losing stuff—my phone, my glasses, the remote, pens, pocketknives. I have spent many hours looking for stuff I have lost. As clichéd as it is—“I would lose my head if it was not attached.” I am so thankful that God is nothing like me because He loses nothing, and nothing that you do for Him is lost.

The apostle Paul was in prison when he wrote 2 Timothy and facing execution. In the verse for the day, Paul told Timothy that even though he was in prison and facing death he was confident that he had lost nothing with God. His salvation was secure, and his labor for the Lord was not in vain.

God cannot lie, and He promised believers eternal life (Titus 1:2; 1 John 2:25). When you are genuinely saved, you can never become unsaved. You were not saved by your own efforts, and thankfully, you do not have to keep your salvation by your own efforts. Your salvation is secure because God will not break His promise to give you eternal life.

There are many things I do which turn out to be a waste of time. One example is the garden I planted this year. I spent a lot of time and money on my garden, but my produce was slim and not good quality. Believe me, I could have bought vegetables much cheaper with a lot less work. My labor was in vain. But with the Lord, you can be assured that your labor for Him is never in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Thought: With God, your salvation is secure and your work for Him will be rewarded.
