David’s Separation to God

“Lord, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth,” Psalm 26:8.

From the time I was a young girl, I dreamed of the day I would get married, as most little girls do. Not only has the Lord blessed me with a wonderful husband of thirty years, but I recently watched my daughter marry the love of her life as well. When a woman is given away in marriage, her life changes completely. She takes on a new identity as a wife with a new home, new purpose and a new perspective. Her priorities change and her husband and home are now the focus of her life. It is no longer just about her anymore; she has become one flesh with her husband and carries his name.

Separating ourselves unto the Lord is very much like a wife and her husband. David is a good example as he was wholly given over in devotion to the Lord. He did not live for himself, but rather separated his life in service to God and gave Him honor in His house where He dwells. David spoke of his love and dedication to the house of the Lord numerous times in the Psalms.

Today, our Lord Jesus Christ receives glory in and through His church (Ephesians 3:21). The Lord calls the members of His churches to live holy lives, separated from the world unto Him. Like a wife who has left her old identity behind to start a new life with her husband, so we now leave behind our old lives as well. We are identified with our Savior, Jesus Christ, and live for Him. What amazing joy that awaits the faithful members of His churches as they will be part of His glorious bride one day. There is no greater reward. Separate your life for Him today.

REFLECTION
“Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7).
