Hope Unashamed

What is hope? Hope is looking out into the unknown and being confident that what God said about it is true. Hope is believing beyond what you can see or know by experience, and even though you cannot prove it, you are confident that what God said is true. It is the confident expectation of better days and a brighter future when Jesus comes again because God said so.

Hope is believing God even when it seems unlikely. Abraham believed in hope against hope (Romans 4:18) meaning that he believed what God said about having a son even though he was old, and Sarah was past childbearing days. It was humanly impossible for Abraham and Sarah to have a son. But in hope Abraham believed God, and they did have a son. So, hope is believing when you have reasons to doubt or no reasons to believe at all except that God said so.

But hope in God will never make you ashamed. There will never come a day when you regret believing what God said. There will never come a day when what God said will not come true. This should give you so much confidence and assurance in your salvation and in your future. “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost” (Romans 15:13).

Thought: Our confident hope is believing what God has said.
