The Lord’s Rescue

“And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee,” Psalm 9:10.

The command was made clear to the people of Babylon. At the sound of the music, all must fall down and worship the golden image the king had set up or be thrown into the fiery furnace. Worship of any other god other than the one true God was not an option for Shadrach, Meshach and Abed- nego. They regarded not their life, but trusted the Lord and surrendered the outcome to Him. How King Nebuchadnezzar must have been utterly astounded when he looked up and saw four men walking around unscathed in the fire. The most beautiful portion of King Nebuchadnezzar’s own testimony was that the form of the fourth man was like the Son of God (Daniel 3:25).

What an amazing story of the Lord’s rescue of His faithful servants. David understood all too well about being in a position of impending danger as he cried out to the Lord, “Have mercy upon me, O Lord; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death” (Psalm 9:13). He had many enemies round about that sought after his life; yet, he gave praise and glory to the Most High and cried out to Him for deliverance time and again.

The enemies in our lives may be different; yet, they are enemies to our faith nonetheless. The Word of God tells us Satan walks to and fro, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). There will be adversaries in your life who try you as well as those in the world who are opposed to the faith and will persecute you simply for living for Christ. Keep standing strong. Resist the devil. Remember the fourth man, Jesus Christ, is with you through every fire you will face.

REFLECTION
Are you willing to go through the fire for the glory of Christ?
