The Almighty
“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure,” Psalm 2:4, 5.
At times, when my twin boys were young, I would find out about things they had done that were wrong, and I confronted them with the situation. I would give them an opportunity to come clean about what they had done and let them know that I already knew what the truth was, but that I was going to give them an opportunity to tell me the truth. Several times they had already concocted a lie, and the lie was so outrageous that I had to turn my head and laugh because they thought they could come up with something that would fool me. Unfortunatley, the longer they continued in the lie, the worse their trouble would become.
So many times, individuals, countries and their leaders contrive great lies against the Almighty God, and even deceive themselves into thinking that He either does not see or care about what is happening here on earth. It may be that they do not believe that He exists at all and thus do not need to be concerned about what might be the consequence of their actions. The idea that the Lord does not see them or know what they have done is foolish, and God just has to laugh at them. And with that, He derides or mocks them in their vain imaginations (Psalm 2:4). “I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh” (Proverbs 1:26). But if a person will trust in the Almighty and come to Him honestly and truthfully, then he will come to realize that he does not have to fear Him.
REFLECTION
“But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil” (Proverbs 1:33).
