Scarlet Line

As Israel prepared to conquer their first city in Canaan, the spies surveyed the city and prepared a report for Joshua. During their mission, they were protected by Rahab by hiding them on the roof of her house located on the wall. As they departed Jericho, Rahab let the spies down from the wall by a scarlet thread in her window. This scarlet line would be the sign of her protection when Israel came to conquer the city. As the soldiers began to attack, they saw the scarlet thread in her window as a sign that she and her house were to be saved from destruction.

This scarlet line can be traced throughout history as a symbol of Rahab’s faith. Being washed by the blood of Jesus offers rescue from certain destruction for all who believe in Him. The scarlet line from Rahab’s window was proof of her faith in God and a sign of protection from the destruction to come. As it was for Rahab, any person who places their faith in God is covered by the scarlet line of Jesus’ blood and protected from the destruction to come.

JUST A THOUGHT: From Genesis through Revelation, the scarlet line of hope is declared to all humanity. The blood of Jesus offers forgiveness and eternal life for all who believe.
